“I am 39 years old and live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I am quite active, playing organized sports and enjoy biking, running, watersports, skiing, etc. I had been on a wait list for ACL surgery with a local (Alberta) surgeon for several months and grew impatient with the wait time. I began to look at other options and thatas when I spotted the ad for The Lyman Knee Clinic in Impact Magazine, a local publication. In my initial consultation with Dr. Lyman I found him to be very approachable and friendly. He took the time to answer all of my questions without making me feel rushed and I felt he provided honest answers and did not pressure me at all to follow through with the surgery. In selecting my surgery date, Dr. Lyman and his staff were very accommodating in allowing me to choose a date that would fit my needs and with almost no wait time. The surgery centre was new and the staff friendly. I believe I was in and out of the surgery centre within 5 hours and could immediately bear weight. Post-surgery I had very little pain and was completely off pain medication after day four. I am currently at week eight, post-surgery, and while I have acquired patellar tendinitis, Dr. Lyman has given me the exercises I need to eliminate it. My knee feels stable and continues to strengthen. I hope to be running within the next month. Besides Dr. Lyman’s friendly, professional manner, his favourable credentials and the friendliness of his staff, another reason I chose The Lyman Knee Clinic was that the quoted fee was a one-time charge; there were no surprise costs. I will confidently recommend The Lyman Knee Clinic to others.”
Two Knee Replacements
“I was on crutches in constant pain with no hope of a speedy solution when I found the Lyman Knee Clinic online, while searching for knee surgery. I needed knee replacements in both knees and visualized the next year in my life recovering from surgery and getting back on my feet. Since my first meeting with dr Lyman I felt much better and knew there was a solution in the not too far future. I was in theater less than two weeks later and everything about the recovery was remarkably faster and above expectations. My general health was good and I am in my early 50s. I was walking on crutches the evening of the surgery and going to the washroom all by myself. Pain management was done carefully and super effectively. 10 weeks after the first knee the other knee was done. Within two weeks of the operations I walked without any crutches. I experienced Dr Lyman as very professional, friendly and approachable and his staff the same.”
“On November 20 I had a total right hip replacement and just 8 weeks out slipped on ice and had multiple right ankle fractures. A good Samaritan took to the ER at KMC and Dr. Lyman was on call. He was kind but straightforward about the long recovery process ahead for me. Although initially painful my incisions look amazing clean and infection free. I am still non weight-bearing but I am very impressed with his care for me and his kindness.”
Son’s ACL/Knee Reconstruction
“All I can say is that Dr Lyman is my hero! My son came home from college during Thanksgiving break and had an accident where he pretty much shattered everything in his knee. My son is going to school on a baseball scholarship so it was a very scary time. Dr. Lyman’s provided an appointment for us the next following day and after examining his MRI, the Dr. determined that he needed surgery right away to provide the best outcome for him and therefore scheduled an emergency schedule for early the following morning. Even though he was not scheduled to work and had planned to go out of town on his holiday vacation, he made my son his top priority to do his surgery. Before the surgery when Dr Lyman reached out to me and told me that he would treat my son as if he was a member of his family, I knew he was in the best hands. This Thanksgiving, I am most thankful to Dr Lyman for taking such good care of my son. Thank you for your dedication and even checking on him after surgery when your were out of town!”
Double Knee Replacement
“Dr. Lyman performed my double knee replacement 6 weeks ago and I am doing amazingly well! My knee flexion is 134 degrees, which is exceptional, I am walking well and doing things I haven’t been able to do in a long time. Double knee surgery is difficult, but Dr. Lyman’s technique and use of technology to properly align all parts made the process much less painful and difficult than I expected. Plus, he is personable and caring and he really knows knees! I have total confidence in Dr. Lyman and highly recommend him!”
“North Idaho is so very fortunate to have such a skilled professional available to evaluate and take care of our knee problems. I’m delighted that I found him.
Being a 78 year old female in reasonably good health, I had no intentions of giving up my golf clubs or my bike due to a bad knee.
My knee replacement surgery went exceptionally well. I immediately started physical therapy after surgery and I had the desired range of motion much sooner than expected along with complete cycles on the bicycle the third time I was on it. My therapist was thrilled. I only needed a walker for three days and had no discomfort or pain to speak of. I did use a cane for a couple of weeks for balance and stability if I left the house. I was amazed! Although it was only a par three golf course, I was playing seven weeks after surgery and walking and pulling my clubs. My playing partners couldn’t belive how well I was doing.
Dr. Lyman would be the first thing that would come to mind should my other knee need attention. He was patient, answering all questions, never rushing out of the room and his staff was always friendly, helpful and cheerful – and you just don’t find this in most health care facilities.
I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Lyman with his extraordinary skills and the people he has surrounded himself with. A whole lot of pluses and not one negative.
Cheers to the Lyman Knee Clinic!”
Closed wedge high tibial osteotomy/ acl reconstruction
“I had a skiing accident back in the eighties where I had torn the ACL on my right knee, and had it reconstructed. Since then I reinjured it numerous times, and made the decision to find a good orthopetic doctor to have it checked out. Well, I found Jeff Lyman. He went over my x-rays, and MRI images with me, Explained to me my options, and what he could do for me. I was very impressed. I needed a high tibial osteotomy to correct the misalignment of the knee joint, then recoverying from that an ACL reconstruction using my hamstring tendons. I’m about ten weeks post-op from ACL procedure, and my knee is stronger, and more stable than ever. I’ve been bicycling everyday, and I’m very happy with the results. I’m planning a ski trip to Telluride Colorado for next season, and can’t wait to get back on the slopes!”
“Update: Just finish another ski season in Telluride on my new knee. I skied about seventy five days with absolutely no problems with the knee. Looking forward to hiking, and mountain biking this summer! Thanks again Jeff Lyman!”
Repair Torn Meniscus
“OK… now that I’m not totally loopy… I just want to share my experience with Dr. Jeffrey Lyman and his staff. This is where my IV went in. Punctures, for blood or IV I grade on pain and bruise. This was the least painful, no bruising puncture I have EVER had, and I’ve had quite a few!! Dr. Lyman and his staff at HIS surgery center and office give OUTSTANDING health care and “customer” patient service. I will drive HOURS for a good doctor. Remember, 1/2 of the doctors graduate in the lower half of their class. This guy and his staff are definitely in the top!! I had a “honkin’ ” tear as he put it AND my MRI showed NO SIGNS of injury, with the exception of fluid being present. I was walking without pain immediately after surgery. So… if you need knee surgery or a knee specialist in the CDA area he’s your guy! It’s easy to find a doctor, it’s not so easy to find a good one.”
“For 35 years of my life I visited doctor after doctor to deal with my chronic knee pain. The usual treatment consisted of knee injections and Advil. I was at my lowest debilitating point, which I could barely walk or move without excruciating pain. I had become skeptic that I’d find a Doctor that could help me.
On my first visit to Dr Lyman’s, he informed me that my legs were so deformed “knock-kneed”, and that was the root cause of my troubles. I struggled with the thought that at the age of 35, I learned my legs were crooked! The first question I asked was, “Can you fix it?” He said, “I can”, and he did! Dr. Lyman was able to correct the deformity (straighten my legs) and save me from having full knee replacements on both legs.
Dr. Lyman preformed a surgery (Femur Osteotomy) that no other Orthopedic Surgeon in Arizona provides. I’ve been told that the corrections he had to make to fix my knee’s is unheard of.
Dr. Lyman guided me through the entire surgical process. I had complete understanding of what to expect, how long it would take to heal, potential complications, and he keep me abreast of my progress throughout the 6 month re-construction.
I’m able to move and walk without pain now. I’m able to successfully do my normal day-to-day activities with ease. I now not only have my legs back, but I have my life back!
If your looking for an extraordinary Orthopedic Surgeon, look no further than Dr. Lyman. You can expect to be treated with respect and kindness from Dr. Lyman and his staff.
I’m no longer a skeptic, I’m a believer!
Thank you does not seem to do justice to how grateful I am to Dr. Lyman and his team. “
Total Knee Replacement
“I can’t tell you how many years I put off needed knee surgery because I was anxious about the whole thing and I could not find a good surgeon.
When I could not stand the pain any more I decided to hit it head on. I did my research that led me to Dr. Jeffrey Lyman.
The whole experience from start to finish was great. Dr. Lyman and his staff were just what I needed. Each one was so calming and explained everything very clearly.
Dr. Lyman is such a warm and comforting human being who really has his system organized. The patient comes first. I look back at a very pleasant experience and I will return to the Dr. Lyman when it comes time for my next knee replacement. Thank you everyone. I am now up and walking the hills and back to my normal routine.”
ACL Reconstruction and Micro-Fracture Surgery
“As an owner of the Arizona Thunder and Tempe Rams adult amateur football teams in the Copper State Football League, we have had the opportunity to use the services of Dr. Lyman numerous times for ACL reconstruction and Micro-fracture surgery.
The goal of our organization and that of the players is to get the best possible results with minimal downtime as most of our players have full-time jobs. Dr. Lyman has been able to fulfill our expectations.
Our players typically can expect to return to light duty work within seven days after surgery and following the prescribed regime of physical therapy are typically cleared to play at the six month mark. The players are participating at 100 percent, it is absolutely incredible.
It is with great pride that I recommend Dr. Lyman and his staff to not only every athlete, but every person who is concerned about accurate diagnosis, quality surgery and minimal downtime.”
Total Knee Replacements
“I have been terrified of knee surgery for years; horror stories from friends who had bad experiences and my own botched knee surgery many years ago. For almost 20 years I could not walk without constant pain.
My primary care doctor suggested I consult Dr. Lyman and after I explained all my fears to him, he assured me that the practices I described were no longer in use.
I watched a video that explained the procedure he uses and showed drawings of what would occur. I was amazed! Could this work for me? Could I walk without pain?
My right knee was replaced in September and my left knee in November. Before Christmas I was running around pain free!
The walker and cane will be donated to charity! I can’t believe how wonderful it is to walk around! No falling!
Dr. Lyman has given me so much – I now have two straight legs, feet that completely hit the floor, and an ability to walk PAIN
FREE!! I feel like my life has been given back to me. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Lyman and his friendly helpful staff!”
Total Knee Replacement
“Years of work and play, have taken their toll on my right knee, thus not allowing me to continue enjoying life. Injections had no lasting effect. I had an MRI done and was highly recommended by my primary care physician, to Dr. Jeffery Lyman. Surgery was performed in January of 2012. Six weeks later and ten sessions of physical therapy, I have full movement in my knee and I am virtually pain free. I walk, bike and exercise daily and back to a normal routine.
Dr. Lyman and his staff are amazing. I was treated with the utmost compassion and kindness, easy to talk to, caring individuals. I would highly endorse Dr. Jeffery Lyman as a knowledgeable and skilled surgeon.”
“Dr. Jeff Lyman did my knee with total professionality. I was impressed with his low key ability to fully explain the procedure, his friendly staff, and his commitment to my recovery. Dr. Lyman is the 5th orthopedic surgeon I’ve dealt with on this bad knee. All were very competant but he gets my highest rating.”
PCL, LCL, Post Lateral Corner
“Dr. Lyman is the MAN! I tore my ACL in 1987 as a teenager, I had reconstructive surgery at that time. Two days before Christmas 12/23/2010 I was riding a motorcycle in the desert and collided with a UTV – it won. I was a new resident of Arizona and went to the first knee doctor I could find – who after doing X-rays told me my knee was so messed up he did not know how to fix it. I was then referred to Dr. Lyman by a Radiologist friend of mine. I visited Dr. Lyman who indicated that my knee was a “disaster” but we had 3 options. Do reconstructive surgery again, do a full knee replacement, or fuse my leg. We had to wait a couple months for a puncture wound to heal on my leg before surgery. We elected to do the reconstructive surgery due to my age -42 – Dr. Lyman feared I would wear out the Knee Replacement. Dr. Lyman performed surgery on 2/15/2011. It has now been just over 1 year. My knee feels better and stronger than it did prior to my accident and surgery. I can not thank him enough for what he did. I am back mountain biking and riding my motorcycle and feeling fantastic.”
Reconstructive Knee Surgery
“If you have any concerns or reservations about having knee surgery, all you have to do is have one appointment with Dr. Lyman and you will have neither. I had reconstructive knee surgery 8 years ago by a doctor named (this name deleted by web administrator), the same surgeon that operated on (again, deleted) of the 49ers knee. The experiences have been a day and night difference. From start to finish he has exceeded my expectations and my recovery time has been extremely quick. 8 years ago I was in bed for over a week and on crutches for almost 3 weeks. With Dr Lyman, I had surgery on Friday afternoon and was walking around without crutches on Sunday. Then two days later I wasn’t even limping and when walking around, if you didn’t know better you wouldn’t know which knee I had surgery on. I would highly recommend Dr Lyman to anyone considering knee surgery and you won’t be disappointed.”
Bilateral Unicompartmental Knee Replacements
“As a nurse on an orthopedic unit in a local hospital here in Phoenix I am responsible for utilization management and some discharge planning I have observed many orthopedic surgery patients and their physician. So when the arthritis in my knees got to be an issue I sought out the best orthopedic surgeon I knew and that was Dr Lyman. From my initial office visit, thru the surgery and after care right down to my last follow up visit I found Dr Lyman professional and caring. He took the time to care about me as a person first and then a patient. I felt involved and prepared every step of the way. I am now almost 18 months post op from bilateral unicompartmental knee replacements and am happy to say I had it done.
Dr Lyman gets high marks in my book for his abilities as a surgeon and his bedside manor.
I ask God to continue to bless him and the work that he is doing.”
I had an accident on my horse
“I had an accident on my horse, caused alot of damage to my knee. Was referred to a surgeon that was full of himself, uncaring and down right rude. I refused to see this man. One of his office staff then referred me to Dr Lyman. I could not have been more pleased. I am an accident waiting to happen, and needed several surgeries. Dr Lyman was very confident, very reassuring, and very helpfull. My first surgery, went better then planned, and he was able to conbine my next two in one appointment. He did my 4th surgery and hopefully my last for a while just two weeks ago. I am doing great. I see others in my physical therapy class who have had simialar surgeries, who have larger scars, and the healing is so much longer and more involved. Even my physical therapist said he is amazed on my progress compared to other patients he has from other surgeons. I can ride my horse with out pain, and ride a bike. I have not done that since I was in my 20’s. Due to multiple accidents, I have had to have multiple surgeries, but Dr Lyman handled each accident with the most knowledge, the most caring attitude, and his bed side manner is the best ever. I realize due to arthritis, I will be back in 10-15yrs for more surgery, but I would not go to any other doctor. I thank you Dr Lyman for all you have done for me. You gave me back my life. I know you cant stop me from accidents, but I trust in you completely to fix any damage I cause. I will owe you forever.”
“Wow, I am very pleased! I am one month out of my ACL surgery and I am already riding my mountain bike, lightly on the sidewalks, of course. But I am on it. I have had no uncomfortable pain and I am already walking without any sign of having a surgery. I cannot wait to be released to ride my dirt bike again, and I can see that will probably be no problem in 6 months. My name is Yolanda Ware and I am 40 yrs old. I believe I am fortunate to get the best ortho surgeon: Dr. Lyman!
“I tore my ACL in July and went to three doctors before choosing Dr. Lyman as my surgeon. As a 22-year-old experiencing my first major surgery, being comfortable with my surgeon was crucial. My situation was a little different from other ACL tears, as when I damaged my knee I didn’t know it — there was no pain and minimal swelling the day after. A week after I did it I was fine again, but by that point I had learned of the tear.
So for me, to undergo such a big surgery on a knee that didn’t hurt whatsoever, it was extremely hard on me mentally, and I needed a surgeon who could help me not just physically, but with keeping my head on straight as well. Dr. Lyman was that surgeon.
I’m only a week post-op as of writing this, but the knee feels great when you consider everything. I was walking on it the same day of the surgery and haven’t had any major pain or need for narcotics. My physical therapists are blown away by where I’m at — saying I’m weeks ahead of most ACL patients who come in.
Going with Dr. Lyman for my surgery was undoubtedly the right choice and I’m extremely thankful I was able to find him instead of settling for a different surgeon.
Not only is he top notch in the operating room, but he makes you confident going into the procedure — and that’s key.
Thank you, Dr. Lyman.”
Knee Replacement Surgery
“I was experiencing considerable pain in my right knee and I was walking with a limp. After consultation with my family doctor, I was referred to Dr. Lyman because of deterioration of the knee due to arthritis. After discussing my options with Dr. Lyman, I chose to have knee replacement surgery. The pain is gone and I no longer walk with a limp. Dr. Lyman did an excellent job.”
you made a tremendous difference in her life
“My daughter Heather is a 15 year old basketball fanatic, and when she was 13, she suffered a knee injury during a game. While we tried our best to get her well through therapy, the pain and constant swelling continued and she developed an ossicle below her patellar tendon.
After several visits to Dr. Lyman, he determined that surgery was indeed necessary, and what I appreciated about that was the thought he had put into Heather’s situation, wanting to look at all other possible options prior to surgery.
Her surgery was in early June of 2009, and through rehab she was ready to begin her sophomore season in November. She is completely pain free, her knee no longer swells as a result of any activity, and her confidence has returned. In fact, just last night, she had 12 pts on 5 of 8 shooting, including 2 of 3 on 3’s, 4 steals, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds.
While the medical care provided was top notch, what sets Dr. Lyman apart is that he treated my child as if she were his own, with genuine compassion and a great desire to see her able to return to the court.
Thanks Dr. Lyman – you made a tremendous difference in her life.”
“Dr. Lyman recently performed my second ACL reconstruction and I can’t say enough how happy I am with the results. Both he and his staff are professional and thoughtful of his patients. His techniques are state of the art and my down time was very limited (I was in and out of the hospital in a few hours and only missed one day of work). I am now less than eight weeks out and am walking as if I never had the surgery and the strength in my knee has improved greatly. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to my family and friends if they are ever in need, in fact I have already recommended him to two people I know! Thank you Dr. Lyman
ACL Revision Surgery
“In January of 2009 I had a ski accident and tore my ACL. I was referred to a well known orthopedic surgeon in Phoenix who repaired my ACL using a Patellar tendon graft. Six months after the surgery I was sure there was something wrong, I was still not able to obtain full extension and I was having persistent pain with a severe limp. After several follow up appointments, x-rays and another MRI he detected another Meniscus tear and recommended another surgery. So in August of 2009 he operated again. Two months after my second surgery I was showing no improvement.
In December of 2009 I was referred to Dr. Lyman. After looking at my x-rays Dr. Lyman identified a problem and told me he could fix the problem with an ACL revision surgery. Of course I did not want to have my third surgery in less than 12 months but I had no choice and Dr. Lyman made me feel comfortable and confident that he could fix my knee. The surgery was successful and the pain was minimal compared to my first ACL surgery. I am 2 months post op and I am walking better than I have in a year. I still have more Physical Therapy ahead but I know that I made the right decision by getting a second opinion from Dr. Lyman. I only wish I had gone to him in the first place! Dr. Lyman is a compassionate and talented doctor and has restored my confidence that there are great doctors out there.”
Anthroscopy ACL Reconstruction
“I tore the ACL in my right knee in December 2009. Dr. Lyman was recommended to me by my Son, who is the Office Manager for another doctor in Scottsdale. On February 4, 2010, Dr. Lyman performed a Anthroscopy ACL Reconstruction. It has now been almost seven weeks, I’m doing very well in physical therapy, my strength is returning, and my right knee feels and “works” as well as ever. In fact, my right knee is doing so well, that I am planning on having Dr. Lyman perfrom a total left knee replacement this fall, due to injuries I suffered (imposed upon myself)30 years ago. Thanks Dr. Lyman!”
“If you are looking for an extraordinarly skilled surgeon – able and willing to do what others will not even attempt- LOOK NO FURTHER!
After 2 years and 3 surgeries with a large, multi location, prestigious practice, I was told I would be on a walker or cane WITH a knee brace for the rest of my life. I fell regularly. I had pain continuosly. The surgeon kept reassuring me this was a “good outcome”.
Although I am 62 and a rubenesque lady, I was unwilling to accept that I could never walk independently again. So the quest began by my determined primary care physician and I, to find someone highly skilled and willing to try.
Finally, we found Dr. Lyman. He immediately knew what the previously undiagnosed problem was! We were looking at repairing or replacing the patella tendon, lengthening the quadricep, possible hamstring autografting and cable repair. This was not a routine surgery at all!
Within the month, January 2010, I was in surgery. Dr. Lyman prepared me for a long recovery process- 2 months in a non-weight bearing cast in a rehab facility, a few months in a wheel chair. I was hoping I might be able to walk independently by the end of 2010.
By April I was walking independently. I was pain free for the first time in 20+ years!
How can I possibly express my gratitude? What can I possibly say to express the extent of this surgeon’s talent? He is willing to try and can succeed in what is hopeless to other well reputed surgeons. Stop looking – this is the place – this is the team- this is the surgeon!”
“I had a consultation appointment on Wednesday, August 29th. I want to thank and congratulate Dr. Lyman and his staff for all the courtesy, kindness, knowledge and assistance given to me. In spite of Dr. Lyman’s busy schedule, he took the time to answer all of my and Grant’s questions and made me feel like I am his only patient!!! Although I can’t say I look forward to my knee replacement because of cowardice, I can definitely say that I will not hesitate to have Dr. Lyman do the surgery as soon as I am ready. Keep up the good work and God bless all of you.”
Knee Replacement Surgery
“After dealing with severe knee pain for several years, on 9/14/2010 I had knee replacement surgery, which was performed by Dr. Lyman. Prior to that date, I had several appointments at the office and found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. I was very apprehensive about the surgery, but the office staff and Dr. Lyman made me feel comfortable and explained the entire process. The surgery went very well. It has been only about a month since my surgery, and I am able to move around without much help and with little or no pain. Dr. Lyman has done an excellent job on my knee, and I would highly recommend him for knee replacement surgery. I keep saying that he walks on water!”
“I was diagnosed with a loosened knee prosthesis in May 2010. My original surgeon does not do knee revisions. That was my first mistake in choosing my former surgeon. A surgeon should always be able to fix his own mistakes. I researched Doctors who are able to do revision surgery and Dr. Lyman was my choice. After walking on a loose knee for six months , I feared that the surgery and recovery was going to be twice as long and difficult as the first surgery. I was totally wrong. I was an Infection Control Practitioner for 8 years.and it is evident that Dr. Lyman pays meticulous attention to infection control. Infection is probably your worst enemy wiht knee surgery. Dr. Lyman operated on my knee on Oct 26th. My surgery took twice as long as my first surgery because as Dr. Lyman said my knee was a mess. With this in mind, I was ready for discharge in 24 hours. I was up walking with a walker 4 hours after surgery. I was walking without a walker in three days and never took one pain pill with the exception of Tylenol . I am now starting my 4th week of Rehab, and my Physical Therapist tells me my recovery has been amazing. Not only is Dr. Lyman a superb surgeon, his bedside manner is supportive and caring. My professional advice is choose Dr. Lyman.”
“I had knee replacement 23 days ago and I am almost back to new. Dr Lyman and his staff were unbelievable. I did interview other doctors before I chose Dr Lyman. I definetly made the right choice.”
Knee Replacement Surgery
“I am very pleased with the knee replacement surgery preformed by Dr. Lyman; and even more pleased with post-surgery follow-up. His sincere interest and concern for my recovery progress was especially impressive. I would strongly recommend Dr. Lyman to anyone needing knee replacement surgery. His assistants and staff are top of the field when in comes helping you with any need.”
A Very Caring and Wonderful Surgeon
“I am wrting another testimonial about Dr Lyman and his staff as I did not write enough the first time. I have never been to a Dr.s office that treats you like they do. They answer your questions immediately, and you dont have to wait all days for the dr. too call you back. Dr Lyman is a very caring and wonderful surgeon, and his staff is very caring and wonderful too.”
“What a great experience! No really. Dr Lyman did an ACL reconstruction and some cartilage repair/clean up. This experience was significantly better than my previous ACL repair which had me laid up for quite awhile and resulted in a disappointing outcome.
I am 4 weeks out and back in the gym. My gait is normal. I have very little pain. I see no reason why I will not be able to resume my running routine.
I had the surgery done in the midst of a move. Just a few days after surgery, I was able to be on my feet all day packing and unpacking. I was also able to tend to my 4 year old’s needs.
I found Dr Lyman to be kind and caring. He took his time reviewing test results and answering questions. I never had the sense he was rushed. The office staff was relaxed and friendly and returned calls promptly.
I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Lyman to anyone with knee issues.”
Extremely Happy with the Office Staff
“This was my fourth surgery and fourth different doctor trying to resolve a knee issue that has lingered for 33 years. I have to say I was extremely happy with the office staff and their caring attitude. I was able to discuss my concerns with Dr. Lyman and he addressed all questions with no rush to move to the next appointment until we were through. Follow ups were just as complete. Overall results are fantastic, after 33 years of trying different doctors and therapies I am now 11+ weeks out since surgery and pain free. Dr. Lyman has given me the opportunity to volunteer with local law enforcement that I otherwise would not have been able to do.
Thank you Dr. Lyman and Staff!!”
Total Knee Replacement
“I am an 80 year old lady who spent a great deal of time searching for a good orthopedist to take care of my knee pain. After asking friends, and neighbors, I resorted to the internet. After viewing many profiles of AZ orthopedists I decided to go to Dr. Lyman. Thank God I did. I would recommend him to anyone needing knee help. He performed a total knee replacement, and was a very capable doctor. He is caring, informative and willing to spend all the time needed to answer any questions one might have (I had 3 pages of them) This kind of doctor is extremely hard to find! If you have knee pain or problems, look no further than Dr. Lyman Bonnie Lahr (A very happy patient)”
“Dr. Lyman performed my knee replacement to repair extensive damage that had affected my quality of life for years. As a Letter Carrier for over 30 years, I was amazed at the minimal invasiveness and recovery time required for me to resume walking long distances daily. Dr. Lyman is an amazingly skilled surgeon and his staff is phenomenal.”
“I am 67 yr old who suffered about 20+ years with painful knees. In fear of this surgery I put it off and off. In may 2010 I made up my mind that I did not wantbto live this way any longer. I researched for many months and found Dr Lyman and I paid him a visit. I knew the day I walked outbof his practice thatvhe was going to fix my knees, I totally fell in love with him. He was kind, gentle, patient and most of all willing to fix my knees. Because I wanted to enjoy my summer I made my appointment for sept 2010 to do my RTKR. My experience was so wonderful I went in 9 weeks later and he did my LTKR. I had a trouble free experience, spent 48 hrs in the hospital which could have been 36 hrs for both knees. I felt the only way I could show my respect for this wonderful surgeon was to do the very hard work afterwards. I am 5 months and 3 months post op and I walk with out pain for the first time for as long as I remember. I walk daily, bend those knees, and swim along with many other things I love to do. You will not in my opinion find a more caring, talented surgeon along with his staff to care for you and he will change your life.”
“Before I chose a surgeon, I did my research on the latest state of the art type of knee replacement surgery that is currently being done. Upon discovering the computer assisted surgery technique, I began searching for a surgeon who used this technique. Dr. Lymans ratings are of the highest and I made an appointment to meet with him.
From the very first appointment with Dr. Lyman and his staff, we felt we were working with a very qualified, skilled & caring physician. He takes time to explain everything you need to know. I had knee replacement surgery for both knees just 2 month apart. The follow-up appointments were with Dr Lyman personally and not with a staff member. The entire staff is caring and helpful. They have always responded to our calls quickly and efficiently. Scottsdale Healthcare Thompson Peak hospital and staff was of the highest standards and care. The physical therapist that I worked with were all amazed at how quickly my recovery was after my surgeries.
I have my life back, I am walking every day and riding my exercise bike daily. I am looking forward to hiking this summer. I highly recommend that if you need treatment for your knees, you need to vist with Dr Lyman. You will have the best of treatment and care.”
“Months of knee pain – that continued to worsen – led me to Dr. Lyman’s office. Diagnosis was prompt, treatment options were clearly explained, and once the decision to do surgery was reached the scheduling process was amazingly fast and easy. The recovery from surgery was harder than I expected, but physical therapy and office visit follow-ups were “just what the doctor ordered”! Three weeks out I was moving well and mostly pain free, and now – five weeks out – my knee is flexible, strong and completely pain free. Most important to me…I’m back on my horse and confident that my knee will work properly. Thanks to everyone at Dr. Lyman’s office – you’re wonderful!”
“I had problems with my knee for nearly two years with the result that my outdoor activities were increasingly compromised (eliminated!). After multiple x-rays, MRI’s, arthroscopy, injections and several Doctors, Dr. Lyman was the first Doc that made it absolutely clear to me what the issue was and that TKR was the right solution. The surgery went well, Thompson Peak is a great hospital and four weeks after the surgery (with some aggressive PT) I had excellent mobility. I’m at 8 weeks now and taking brisk, one hour plus walks through the desert with the dogs. No pain. Very pleased and have felt excellent communication with, and support from, Dr. Lyman and his staff throughout.”
TKR Both Knees
“I had been living with debilitating knee pain for far to long! My quality of like had deteriorated so fast and depending on how intense my knee pain was determined what I could do each day. Dr. Lyman has changed my life, not only is he an extremely skilled surgeon but also a very caring doctor! I had two TKR procedures, my right knee in March 2010, and my left in February 2011 at Scottsdale Healthcare Thompson Peak. The staff at the hospital was excellent, with my first surgery, I was in the hospital for two days, and with my second surgery, I was there only one day! I have minimal scaring on both knees and I was able to return to work in only five weeks after surgery with great mobility and minimal pain. I am sad to see Dr. Lyman leave Scottsdale, he has been a lifesaver to me, and I will forever be grateful to him. Best Wishes, Snookie Roberts”
Total Knee Replacement
“Last year my knee pain became so debilitating I couldn’t enjoy life anymore. I asked my primary doctor about total knee replacement. He suggested Dr. Lyman and said “He is very good at what he does.” He certainly is. My physical therapist was amazed at my rate of recovery, and after 3 weeks, I was walking without a cane. Dr. Lyman and his staff are very professional and kind showing much concern for the wellbeing and healing of the patient by reducing strong pain medication quite rapidly. Dr. Lyman and his staff all rejoiced at my recovery on my last visit. I felt like I had graduated.
I am now back in North Dakota, and feel so blessed to have had Dr. Lyman as my surgeon.”
“I had a fall and had severe pain in my right knee.I thought (due to my age)that I was too old for surgery…but after one visit with Dr Lyman ,he did a knee replacement.I am now walking with no pain.Dr Lyman is not only a fine Dr.,he is also a caring man.I always felt that I had visited a freind. I miss my visits to his office. Christine Wright”
Evaluation for Knee Replacement
“I came to Dr. Lyman by referral for evaluation for knee replacement. I had been on narcotics for 6 years for another condition. He cautioned me that I would have better results with the surgery if I was off the narcotics. He suggested that I get some physical therapy to strengthen my leg and highly recommended that I get off the narcotics. I went to the Wellness Center associated with Shoshone Medical Center. My therapist was incredible. The first visit I could not lift the leg that was giving me trouble. In a few weeks she had me up and walking with very little pain. It’s now a year later and I am very active. I now work at the wellness center and can use the equipment. I also purchased a bike which I love. Dr. Lyman, if you read this, thank you so much for turning my life around. I am narcotic free and teaching the Fit and Fall Proof class at the Wellness Center. It’s for Seniors. My Torn Meniscus is manageable. I’m trying to stay active and mobile. Your staff is wonderful also. Carolee Whitney, Osburn, Idaho”
Total Knee Replacement
“At age 52 and after abusing my body for decades with an assortment of debilitating physical sports, my entire body was breaking down due to the way the body compensates joint-to-joint to alleviate the effects of injury, loss of strength, and age. Though earlier than most TKRs, I figured it was time to gain back some mobility, save other joints, and have my quality of life back. While I researched many orthopaedic surgeons and was on a quest for the best possible doc, I had followed Dr. Lyman from his days in Scottsdale, AZ. Being on the cutting edge of many clinical trials, as well as having an outstanding reputation, I opted to go with Dr. Lyman. Not once have I regretted my decision. His staff is top notch, they are thorough, I’ve never felt rushed, he always takes the necessary time to answer my questions, and he has gone beyond the call to put me at ease when my own brain seemed to be getting in the way. I’ve referred Dr. Lyman and ONLY Dr. Lyman numerous times to those I have discussed a TKR with. I truly hope he is around practicing for a long time, so he can take care of my other knee once it is time. Thank you to Dr. Lyman and you staff for all you have done for me and I know others.”
Dr. Lyman’s special knowledge, perception, surgical skills
“The emergency team that dealt with the first minutes and weeks of trauma after that truck hit our son Robert did their best, but Robert still suffered excruciating pain into months following the accident. Finally, we found our way to Dr. Lyman. He studied the medical film/reports and noted several problems with tendons, ligaments, even a screw backing itself out of bone that were causing pain, and that pain dramatically subsided soon after surgery by Dr. Lyman. Robert still has a way to go…after all his leg was nearly severed at the knee and he may never have a normal leg, but if he does, it will be largely due to Dr. Lyman’s special knowledge, perception, surgical skills, his post-op treatment and care of Robert. He is Robert’s blessing. Then, Robert’s father fell and broke his hip. We are twice blessed. Thank you Dr. Lyman.”
